Step-A Sore Throat Service
Sore throat is usually a self-limiting condition that lasts about a week.
In most cases it is caused by a virus but, in a few people, sore throat is caused by bacterial infection, usually Group A streptococcus (strep A).
Sore throat usually does not need antibiotic treatment, regardless of the cause (viral or bacterial).
In some cases, a sore throat caused by Strep-A may become worse requiring treatment with antibiotics.
You can book this service if you suspect a Strep-A throat infection.
Our pharmacist will determine if there is a need to see you after you have completed the electronic form sent to your email.
